“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”
- Pablo Picasso
It began in a roach-infested basement apartment with a hastily finished manuscript, a loan from my best friend, and an impractical dream. Armed with a small but loyal online following, I was one step closer to holding a book in my hand. Deadxstop Publishing was formed on a winter night in 2005 when the designer looked over his shoulder and asked, “So, what is your publishing company going to be called?”
“Publishing company?” I asked.
“Yeah, if you are putting out this book, you’re going to need a name.”
If someone would have told me just how difficult this was going to be, I would have been so discouraged that I would have sat back down on the couch and continued to play video games that night. But luckily, I was surrounded by people who believed in me more than I did – and that was what made this a reality. Years later, with the foundation of tens of thousands of books sold and dozens of book tours under our belt, Deadxstop Publishing continues to thrive because of that same belief. Those people. Fans turned into friends, who continue to believe in the notion that artists can make the world a better place. We have been lucky enough to continue to be grounded and supported by the kindness and faith of people from all over the world – Deadxstop Publishing has transcended a simple publishing company. Our authors and books are more than words on paper – they are the aspirations and vulnerabilities of genuine people producing genuine art.
It has always been more than a publishing company. Born out of an idealistic dream, it has always been our mission to give wings to those with extraordinary ambition and inspirational stories. We believe your order is more than buying a book. It is an investment and a vote of confidence into those dreamers and their dreams. So just know that you have directly impacted our lives in a way that could never be truly expressed and we will be here for as long as you continue to believe in us.
